The Newly Built “AQUAMARINE PROGRESS Ⅱ” A Dual-Fuel LPG/Ammonia Carrier, is Delivered

On April 26, 2024, GYXIS Corporation (President and Representative Director: Keiji TANAKA) commenced to charter a newly built dual-fuel LPG/ammonia carrier built at the Imari Works of Namura Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. from MOL Energia Pte. Ltd.

The grand naming ceremony was held at the Imari Works of Namura Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. on March 12, 2024. The carrier, named “AQUAMARINE PROGRESS Ⅱ,” is a large refrigerated LPG carrier (a Very Large Gas Carrier, or VLGC) equipped with a dual-fuel engine which can consume both fuel oil and LPG as fuel. The carrier is expected to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases about 20% and air pollutants about 90% compared to conventional LPG carrier and is designed to be capable of also carrying ammonia, which is drawing attention as a transport medium for hydrogen—a next-generation energy source—and as a carbon-free fuel.

We have been operating one dual-fuel LPG/ammonia carrier since June of last year. With the addition of this vessel, we aim to further diversify our supply sources by strengthening our own fleet, while striving to reduce our environmental impact, to make further contributions to the stable supply of LPG and the realization of a society which will develop in a sustainable way.
